“phishing” con artists
Scammers are using replicas of “real” web pages to deceive members into revealing private information—financial and password data.  This is popularly called “phishing” where hackers use email lures to “fish” sensitive information.  Official looking email is sent to the recipient requesting you to update or provide information back to a phony legitimate looking web site URL that is embedded in the email. The scammer intends to defraud the user by using the passwords and other personal information collected by the web site.
NorthWest Plus CU will not send email messages that instruct you to follow embedded URL links to our web site to update personal information.

What can you do?
Do not trust unsolicited emails that request personal information.
Do not act upon email that requests passwords, credit card #s, PINs, SS#s, etc.
Regularly keep your web browser patches up to date—to keep vulnerabilities from entering your system.
Regularly log in to your online accounts looking for anything unusual.
Monitor your bank and credit/credit card statements.
Contact NorthWest Plus and the FBI’s Internet Fraud Complaint Center at
www.ifccfbi.gov if you suspect fraudulent activity.
