Based on the success we had in 2019, and our outlook on the future, your Board of Directors approved a $540,000 bonus to give back to the membership. This Loyalty Bonus will deposit automatically to qualified members in good standing; based on average deposit balance, interest paid on consumer loans, mortgage and credit card activity and electronic delivery of your statements, with nw+|cu.
Thank you for being a member of the credit union at such a momentous time. This marks the first year your Credit Union has paid this bonus to our members. This would not be possible without your loyalty.
2019 was a big year of change for your credit union. We changed our logo and website, launched a new youth program that rewards success in the classroom and promotes savings. We transitioned to a new CEO/President, promoting a long-tenured VP to the position, and promoted from within to fill the management team. We appreciate you, our members; that made it all possible, and look forward to serving you through 2020 and beyond.

What is a Loyalty Bonus?
Loyalty Bonus is based on your relationship with the credit union during the previous year. To calculate the bonus a pre-determined set of values were used, based on deposit accounts, mortgage, consumer loans, credit cards and eStatements. Bonus amount, can vary starting at a qualifying minimum $151, dependent on your relationship with nw+|cu.
When and how will the bonus be paid?
February 7th, 2020 through direct deposit to primary shares.
How is the bonus calculated?
The Loyalty Bonus was based on the following criteria:
- Avg Daily Share Balances: 0.15% of your average share deposit balances over 2019
- Avg Certificate Share Balances: 0.15% of your average certificate of deposit balances over 2019
- Consumer Loan Interest: 5% of the overall interest paid on consumer loans in 2019 (excludes Mortgage loans and Credit Cards)
- Real Estate Loans: $50 for a Mortgage Loan (excludes HELOC’s)
- Credit Card Loans: $10 if you had an active credit card
- eStatements: $10 if you are receiving electronic delivery of your statements as of year-end 2019.
Why did you deposit into my savings account?
All qualified members will receive their Loyalty Bonus through direct deposit into their primary share account. This account was utilized to provide consistency as all members are required to establish a primary share with membership.
Primary members with multiple member numbers will receive one deposit of the aggregated bonus into the primary share with the highest average deposit balance.
Will there be a bonus in 2020?
We are very excited to be giving this Loyalty Bonus to the membership and hope it is an ongoing event. The Board of Directors and Management Team of your credit union have benchmarks needed to maintain a healthy and relevant financial institution. Annual review of established benchmarks and overall financial health of the credit union will be a determining factor of any future Loyalty Bonus. We anticipate paying a Loyalty Bonus in 2020 with your continued support.
Is the bonus subject to income taxes?
Yes, this special bonus will be reported on 2020 1099-INT or 1099-MISC forms where required by law.

The Loyalty Bonus is only paid to members in good standing as of 12/31/2019 and still having an open account on the bonus pay date. Members with loans 30+ days delinquent did not qualify for the Loyalty Bonus. A credit card is considered active if it is used 3 out of every 4 months, or 9 months during 2019.
1 Total one-time bonus is based on the shares, loans and active services with nw+|cu on all accounts which the social security is listed as the primary. Future bonus categories, amounts and calculations are subject to change at any time and can be eliminated or adjusted to determine each year's final payout to members. Inactive, delinquent or accounts earning less than the minimum $15 are excluded from the program.
